Debertolis 11th in Engadina – Nationalpark Bike Marathon

A broken chain takes him out from the top five

After the august stop the biker from Primiero Massimo Debertolis get back on his sport season participating to the Nationalpark Bike Marathon on long distance of 137 km with a 4120 mt altitude gap. A spectacular race on between italian land (Livigno) but especially swiss (Engadina), that saw the victory of the European Champion Christoph Sauser in 5h36’29”.

Region Trentino, represented by Team Wilier Sat System, this year gained the 11th final place, but with the umpteenth unlucky episode.
Until two third of race Massimo was author of a very positive performance, the first two half times in Fuldera and Livigno passed 3rd, and 6th in Chanf.
10 kilometers from the arrival one link of the chain broke up, making him lose precious time and many positions.

Fixed the problem, thanks also to a amateur rider, Massimo tried to recover as he could, making the 8th best time of the ultimate portion, to 28 minutes from the winner.
That was a shame – said Massimo after the race – I was going very fast. I had no replacement chain links with me and I have thrown away an important result in a hi level race valid for the lxs series.

I take the positive aspects as the fact that I am in a good shape my and I go on. A challenge is waiting for me in my valley next weekend and I don’t want to miss it: the Primiero Extreme, a relay race with three athletes each team: one for downhill, one for skyrace and one for mtb.

I’ll be certainly the mtb racer for my team, then I’ll not miss the Fassa Bike race.
