It is 18.45 pm (6:45 pm), and I am heavily sweating, struggling my way up the 16 km of Monte Bisbino. Monte Bisbino is located at Lake Como. Heinrich Haussler’s huge grin as he powered across the finish line of stage two of the Tour de Suisse said it all. After a rough spell in the Classics and the Tour of California when he was sidelined by a knee injury, a victory for his Cervélo squad in the team’s biggest home race was just of result the 26-year-old needed prior to the Tour de France. Juan José Haedo (Team Saxo Bank) won the bunch sprint in the second stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné. The 29-year-old Argentinean found a gap along the left edge of the road and took the victory over Cervélo TestTeam’s Martin Reimer (GER) and Grega Bole (Lampre-Farnese Vini). The 2008 Tour de France winner, Carlos Sastre (ESP) has still not confirmed his participation in the 2010 Tour de France. The Spanish rider is still recovering from the crashes he had during the Giro d’Italia last month. Medical analysis is now underway and Sastre is currently awaiting the results.
